Discover Golf teeing off at the Extreme 19th
AscotGolf Fam Trip, South Africa Sep 2009 Thanks to Scott Edkins (Dir of AscotGolf) we have discovered the wild beauty of South Africa. Adjusting the final details to host the FIFA World Cup 2010, South Africa is definitely better known for its refined golf and wine, more than for its football. During this intensive week, we played golf at Arabella, Erinvale & Pearl Valley (Nicklaus Signature design host of the South African Open) in Cape Town Surroundings’. While in the Johannesburg area, we tested the Euphoria Golf Resort (an Anika Sorenstam design) and finally lodged at Legends Golf Safari where we were delighted by the only golf course in the world where all 18 holes were designed by 18 different designers (all TOP PGA legends). This Safari Golf Resort located in the Limpopo area, counts also with its own “Big 5” reserve (Etebani), a “white lion” protected area, and a unique golf practice facility including the “Tribute Par 3 Course”. Before coming back, we were the first Argentinean (and unique so far) to tee-off at the Extreme 19th. A par 3 of 631 meters!! You need to fly in helicopter to the tee box located at the top of the Hanglip Mountain and drive your ball into a green shaped exactly like the African continent!!! That is extreme! Discover Golf together with Astro Tours from Colombia, where the only two companies from South America to join the selected group of 52 people from 20 different countries that participated of the Iagto Super Fam at Dominican Republic, hosted by the lovely couple Anders and Rawnie Hansen owners of Palmera Destinations (click). It was a unique possibility of experiencing how magnificent is the Domincan Golf offer. In only one week, we had the possibility of visiting more than ten hotels, play golf at six of their best courses, make some networking, and even have some drinks!! The golf is seriously great: Punta Blanca (Nick Price), La Cana (P.B. Dye), Roko Ki (Nick Faldo), Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo (Pete Dye) & Punta Espada at Cap Cana (Niclaus Signature); being these last two courses a SERIOUS MUST internationally speaking. So, don't miss the chance of visiting this great country with lovely people, paradisiacal environment, and perfect weather! Thanks Anders & Rawnie! |
